MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS ON SEPTEMBER 2, 2009
AT 10 BAXTER LANE, BRUNSWICK, MAINE

Present were: Ron Pruzick, Winnie Chan, Edmond Pelta, Antoinette Mercandante, Judy Kelley, and Frank Broadbent.

1. Plans were made for our one hour presentation on the October 8 Meeting of the Maine Science Teachers Association.

A. Ron will introduce the group and explain MSSV.
B. David Rolfe will demonstrate making motors. We are asking him to bring the teacher with whom he works. (If David is not available, Frank will present motors)
C. Antoinette will demonstrate chromatography.
D. Debbie will be asked to distribute handouts and collect emails.
E. All of the above mentioned members except Judy will be listed as participants on the application.

2. The brochure needs to be updated. Emails with suggestions will be sent to Ron.

3. Ron will coordinate the updating of our website.

4. Our current and future projects were discussed. Judy is resending our volunteer activity form.

Ron will call Monica Wright at Bath Middle School.
Frank will contact Sue Lamdin at Brunswick Middle School.
Ed will contact Maria Palopoli at BJHS about the science club and suggest a meeting with the department.
Winnie will contact Diane Bowen.
Winnie will contact Molly Smith in Yarmouth.
We assume the David Rolfe will continue at Gorham Middle School
Toni will contact St. Johns School.
Toni will contact the Harpswell School. We need more consideration on Mt Ararat High School and Georgetown.
We are to email our responses to the whole board.

5. It was suggested and agreed that training for new volunteers include an initial classroom visit along with an experienced volunteer.

6. The Board meetings are to be coordinated by Winnie and if possible, meet on the last Wednesday of the month at 2 PM in Curtis Library. The dates are: 9/30, 10/23, 11/25, and 12/30.

Topics for the next meeting include recruiting volunteers, the brochure, reports on project and contacts.
